Welcome to the weekend! Looking for something to do for the next two sunny days? Hit the beach, take to the water, head to farmers markets, watch a match or now thanks to Indaver Ireland, how about spending it trailing through their latest material submitted to Bord Pleanala, observations on which close in just under 2 weeks.
The 21 July at 5.30pm is the deadline for observations on the new material correcting their erroneous dioxin figures and challenging the position of the Department of Defence on flight paths which Indaver were invited to submit by An Bord Pleanala on the occasion of the 4th decision deferral in March 2017. This material is available for inspection in County Council offices or online on ringaskiddyrrc.ie which is a website owned and maintained by Indaver on the instruction of Bord Pleanala.
Observations are open to all.
- Parties who submitted an observation to the original application in 2016 can submit without a fee.
- If you were a party to the CHASE Group Objection, you can respond to this e-mail with any comments specific to the new material, and it will be included in the CHASE Community Objection. If you have any expertise or observations in the relevant areas, these comments would be particularly appreciated, so don’t be shy.
- New observers must pay a €50 fee
CHASE will be submitting a detailed analysis of the new material, however below are the details for responding:
SEND TO: 64 Marlborough St, Rotunda, Dublin 1, D01 V902
QUOTE: Case reference: PL04 .PA0045
ATTACH: Fee if applicable
TO ARRIVE: before 5.30pm on 21 July 2017
General points to consider including:
– We request a full Board decision on this controversial application.
– It would appear that Indaver had prepared the extra information sought by Bord Pleanala on March 20th 2017 before Bord Pleanala requested same.
– Indaver’s explanation for the incorrect dioxin figure information is farcical, please do not accept this explanation.
– Indaver’s claim that the velocity from the plume from the incinerator stack is such that the plume will be dispersed sufficiently after 3.5m defies the laws of physics.
– The MARI should be carried out to reflect the effects of dioxins and furans on a developing foetus and infant. All epidemiological studies to date point to the fact that the MOST AT RISK INDAVIDUAL is in fact the foetus and infant
– Dioxins are bio accumulative and because humans are at the top of the food chain we ingest the highest doses. There is no reference made to any of this contamination in Indaver’s submission.
– It is notable that Indaver’s submission provides average emissions. This submission fails to address the spike in dangerous emissions such as those which occur at start-ups, shut downs, malfunctions etc..
– There is a continued absence of a new evacuation plan for the residents of Haulbowline and for the students and staff of the National Maritime College, despite the original evacuation plan being proven unworkable at the 2016 oral hearing. This lack of an adequate evacuation plan is alarming particularly so following the recent hospitalisation of 11 workers at the Poolbeg Incineration Plant on June 8th 2017 and following a huge explosion at Indaver’s’ flagship Antwerp Facility on 26th of February 2016.
